Change password

Passwords only offer good protection if they are sufficiently complex. In order to protect the university's IT systems, the password policy and guideline "Passwortrichtlinie der Hochschule-Bonn-Rhein-Sieg" has been in place since May 2023, which must be adhered to by all persons using the university's IT services or IT systems.

The structure and content of this directive are based on the IT Basic Protection Compendium (Edition 2022), published by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). She sees, for example. before:

• minimum length: 10 characters
• min. one capital letter
• min. one lowercase letter
• min. one digit (0 to 9)
• min. one non-alphanumeric character (special character)
• no trivial passwords
• do not contain any personal data, name or identifier
• do not use passwords multiple times
